Tracy at KittyDaycare Reading

Tracy Timms, VN MBVNA Veterinary Nurse

Welcome and thank-you very much for visiting my website.

My name is Tracy Timms and I am a Veterinary Nurse with over 20 years experience in the profession.

I have always been an animal lover and have had animals at home for as long as I remember. I started work at a small Veterinary Surgery in Hastings, East Sussex but in 1995 I felt I needed to gain experience in a larger practice to obtain my dream to qualify as a Veterinary Nurse. I made a decision to move to Reading and gain my veterinary nurse qualifications whilst working for Castle Vets. I lived at the surgery so was unable to have any pets of my own but as soon as I moved into my own house I was quick to obtain my ‘boys’ Mystic Mog, Camelot then Sparty and finally Mister Bojingles.

british veterinary nursing associationI enjoyed caring for all animals, but my love for cats especially was discovered. My interest in cat behaviour developed, I was keen to pursue extra training in this area and became BVNA certified in ‘Companion Animal Behaviour’

After having my children I continued to work at Castle Vets on a part-time basis and when my youngest daughter started school full time, I started Kitty Daycare as a bit of a hobby. Now over four years later and having over one hundred clients on my records, my hobby has turned into a full-time job at times.

I believe being a qualified Veterinary Nurse I’m the perfect person to offer a cat sitting service. I have dealings with many different types of cats and always offer a service suited to their specific needs. I have been able to offer advice to my clients on behavioural problems and also have my children to help with the very important part of socialisation of kittens.

Frequently Asked questions

I am happy to do this at your own risk.
If your cat unfortunately becomes unwell whilst you are away I will try and make contact with you as soon as possible. If for any reason I am unable to contact you and your cats condition worsens I will seek veterinary advice. I would also ask that you contact your vet prior to travel to make them aware that I am looking after your cat(s) whilst you are away and give consent for treatment if an emergency should occur.
I’m more than happy to administer medications. I am also happy to administer worm and flea treatment if this is necessary whilst you are away although I will only use veterinary recommended ones.
Feel free to text or email me if you have any concerns whilst you are away.
Single daily visits start from £11 and double visits start at £18. Bank holidays are charged at one and a half the normal rate.
I have no minimum booking period at present.
Either one or two visits a day or a combination although I will not visit less than once daily however, single visits will be possible on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Please try to give as much notice as possible as certain times can be extremely busy. The majority of my clients usually contact me prior to making any travel arrangements. I can also hold keys permanently should you need me at short notice. I appreciate emergencies happen and I will always help out wherever possible.

We are very pleased with the service from Kitty Daycare which we have used on many occasions, including one for over a month. Our shy cat requires a special vet-prescribed diet and regular tablets so can be awkward to look after. However, on our return, she always seems contented and well cared for. We like the daily diary notes and text updates of how the cat and the house are when we are away

I have used Tracy 3 times now and would recommend her to anyone requiring a cat sitting service. I have an elderly cat who has never been left on his own over a long period of time before. Prior to the date, Tracy was due to look after my cat she made a visit and did a thorough check of his environment, health and if there were any special requirements. The fact that Tracy is a fully trained vet’s nurse gave me peace of mind.

We had to find a cat sitter for our two young boys as both of went on a business trip at the same time. Tracy arranged a meet and greet appointment at a very convenient time and all worked very professionally and smoothly. I could not recommend Tracy’s high enough. We will certainly use Kitty Daycare again in the future.

I have been a happy user of Kittydaycare for several years. Our Burmese cats used to come back from a cattery not looking well and we were stressed by the whole process of taking and collecting them. Now, they are safe and well at home and extremely lovingly cared for by Tracy. Burmese cats are very demanding and want a great deal of attention which they get from Tracy. I look forward to the daily notes that she leaves for us to read when we return.

I recently enlisted the help of Tracy in her capacity as a trained Veterinary Nurse to help me take 3 cats (trapped in the wild) to a Vet to be vaccinated and have a general health check. I had no transport so Tracy drove, and had to use all her experience to catch the nervous cats first, which she did as quietly as possible so as to minimise stress. She also happily visited my house for the next week to catch and administer ear drops daily. Happily, as she helped me take them for a check-up today, they have been given the all clear. Her calm professionalism shone through to help with this happy ending for these cats. I would thoroughly recommend her services.
