An introduction

Tracy at KittyDaycare Reading

Tracy Timms, VN MBVNA Veterinary Nurse

Welcome and thank you very much for visiting my website.

My Name is Tracy Timms, I am a qualified Veterinary Nurse with over 30 years in the profession.

I started my journey in 1992 at a small veterinary surgery in Hastings as a Student Veterinary Nurse.

I soon realised, that if I wanted to gain my dream of becoming a Qualified Veterinary nurse, I would need to move to a larger practice where I could gain the extra experience. In 1995 I moved to Reading and started working at Castle Veterinary Surgery, where I gained the experience I needed to qualify and achieved my dream in 1996. I remained in that same practice for 18 years.

Although I loved caring for all animals, I have always had that extra space in my heart for cats and in 2010 when my younger daughter started school, Kitty Daycare was born.

I managed to juggle family life whilst continuing to nurse part-time, along with running a successful cat sitting business. In 2013, I took a brief break from Vet Nursing to help with a local pet transport company but realised after a year how much I actually missed nursing and in 2014 I began working at Shinfield Vets.

In my many years in practice, I have gained experience with many different types of cats and always offer a cat sitting service specifically to the individual needs of each cat.

Over the last few years, I have been able to offer very specific care packages (under the direction of your Veterinary Surgeon). This has included administering subcutaneous fluids to cats with renal (kidney) problems and also pain relief to cats whilst recovering from major surgeries.

I am also involved with the Reading and Oxon cat branch of the RSPCA as a fosteror which my family and I thoroughly enjoy. We are owned at present by three Bengal cats Savannah, Luna and Bella.

Frequently Asked questions

I am happy to do this at your own risk.
If your cat unfortunately becomes unwell whilst you are away I will try and make contact with you as soon as possible. If for any reason I am unable to contact you and your cats condition worsens I will seek veterinary advice. I would also ask that you contact your vet prior to travel to make them aware that I am looking after your cat(s) whilst you are away and give consent for treatment if an emergency should occur.
I’m more than happy to administer medications. I am also happy to administer worm and flea treatment if this is necessary whilst you are away although I will only use veterinary recommended ones.
Feel free to text or email me if you have any concerns whilst you are away.
Single daily visits start from £11 and double visits start at £18. Bank holidays are charged at one and a half the normal rate.
I have no minimum booking period at present.
Either one or two visits a day or a combination although I will not visit less than once daily however, single visits will be possible on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Please try to give as much notice as possible as certain times can be extremely busy. The majority of my clients usually contact me prior to making any travel arrangements. I can also hold keys permanently should you need me at short notice. I appreciate emergencies happen and I will always help out wherever possible.

Testimonials

We are very pleased with the service from Kitty Daycare which we have used on many occasions, including one for over a month. Our shy cat requires a special vet-prescribed diet and regular tablets so can be awkward to look after. However, on our return, she always seems contented and well cared for. We like the daily diary notes and text updates of how the cat and the house are when we are away

I have used Tracy 3 times now and would recommend her to anyone requiring a cat sitting service. I have an elderly cat who has never been left on his own over a long period of time before. Prior to the date, Tracy was due to look after my cat she made a visit and did a thorough check of his environment, health and if there were any special requirements. The fact that Tracy is a fully trained vet’s nurse gave me peace of mind.

We had to find a cat sitter for our two young boys as both of went on a business trip at the same time. Tracy arranged a meet and greet appointment at a very convenient time and all worked very professionally and smoothly. I could not recommend Tracy’s high enough. We will certainly use Kitty Daycare again in the future.

I have been a happy user of Kittydaycare for several years. Our Burmese cats used to come back from a cattery not looking well and we were stressed by the whole process of taking and collecting them. Now, they are safe and well at home and extremely lovingly cared for by Tracy. Burmese cats are very demanding and want a great deal of attention which they get from Tracy. I look forward to the daily notes that she leaves for us to read when we return.

I recently enlisted the help of Tracy in her capacity as a trained Veterinary Nurse to help me take 3 cats (trapped in the wild) to a Vet to be vaccinated and have a general health check. I had no transport so Tracy drove, and had to use all her experience to catch the nervous cats first, which she did as quietly as possible so as to minimise stress. She also happily visited my house for the next week to catch and administer ear drops daily. Happily, as she helped me take them for a check-up today, they have been given the all clear. Her calm professionalism shone through to help with this happy ending for these cats. I would thoroughly recommend her services.
